THO x Chakuwama
On June 19th, 2024, Tanzania Health Opportunities provided free healthcare screenings for all children and staff at Chakuwama. The THO team offered everyone: a general physical consultation, testing for Malaria and UTI, and dental and vision consultations. We are so grateful to the THO team for their services.
Health Insurance
Following the report by THO, it is more apparent than ever how critical it is for the children at Chakuwama to receive Health Insurance.
In February 2023, NHIF (the national health insurance) changed and orphanages are no longer to register for group health insurance policies. In June 2024 we filed an official request to make a policy exception on behalf of the children of Chakuwama. We are now waiting for the response.
NHIF Health Insurance is 50,000 tsh ($20) per child.
For $1,500 we can provide health insurance to every child.
